Description

An antique monocular / spyglass / scope that likely dates to the Civil War, but due to the crude construction, could potentially date back to the Revolutionary War.  I was unable in my research to find another spyglass like this one. . .most were made of higher quality materials and had more "draws" or "pulls" to be extendable to a greater length.  This spyglass appears to be constructed from a sheet of tin, although it may be a higher quality metal that is heavily corroded.  It measures 7" in length with the "draw" pushed in and about 10 1/2" in length when fully extended.  The lenses are fully intact with some expected surface scratching, but no cracks.
The previous owners were a couple who collected and dealt in antiques for several decades.  They stated that this piece was acquired from the Dale C. Anderson Company Militaria Catalogue many years ago.
