Western Coil and Electric Co .. circa 1925 .. RADIODYNE type WC17 ... Five Tube TRF set in very nice condition. This might actually be a fairly rare Radiodyne set as the WC17 is not shown or even mentioned in most literature .. It was obviously replaced by the WC17A which is still hard to find but is pictured in advertising.
Very nicely constructed .. all five tubes are mounted on a suspended platform that absorbs vibration. I was unable to get the chassis out of the cabinet [after pulling all the obvious screws out it still refused to move ???] but I did get a couple of decent pictures of the interior. Both of the audio transformers are original to the set but I was not able to reach the connections to check for continuity. A picture of one of them is in the auction listing.
Good looking set .. cabinet finish appears to be black paint or stain .. almost certainly original as the paper label on the back of the set is applied over the finish. Highly polished front panel is in VG condition [one small closed crack is shown in a close up picture .. it doesn't go anywhere and appears to be stable]. Knobs and binding posts are original. The five tubes shown are display/duds and are included with the set. It measures approx 22" X 8.5" X 7.5" deep and very well packed shipping weight will be 21 pounds from zip code 24012.
