A Rare Authentic Early Original Civil War Cavalry Uniform.
Includes: (1) M1858 US Cavalry Private’s yellow trimmed shell jacket
with inspection stamps in the linen and brass shoulder boards
. (1)
M1858 Cavalryman's Hardee hat
bearing the Cavalry brass front insignia. The 3-inch wide brim retains its two rows of stitching reinforcement and is turned up on the left side and secured by the regulation stamped brass eagle device.
Original worsted yellow hat cords
and black silk .3/8" hatband are set at the base of the 5.5" inch tall crown. Black ostrich plume, 2.1/4" wide leather sweatband. The inside crown has a
gloss-black label lettered in gilt: "A. & K., U.S. Army, (Eagle and panoply of arms), EXTRA, Manufacture, 7.1/8, No. 4".
(1) Unissued replacement black ostrich plume with Mfg. tag "W H. Horstmann, Phil, PA". (1) Union cavalry carbine sling with snap swivel. (1) A complete
Model 1851 Cavalry buff leather belt rig with cartridge & cap boxes and black leather holster for the M1858 Remington revolver.
(1) A Model 1858 smooth-side canteen, complete with sling, cover, stopper and chain. (1) A pair of cavalry dress gauntlets. (1)
A pair of leather boots with spurs.

1840 "Wrist-Breaker" Cavalry Sword.
Curved blade with fuller. Maker marked
"AMES MFG CO / CHICOPEE / MASS"
on one side of the ricasso (barely visible) and
"US, D.R, 1863"
on the other. Brass hilt with leather covered wood grip and twisted copper wire. Steel scabbard with matching (M1851 belt) buff leather sword hangers. Leather portepee.
