I was able to purchase a collection of wonderful antique baby & child's size shoes from a 91 year old collector. I have just begun offering the collection. In this auction, I am offering a rare pair of  primitive Americana Pat. Nov. 29, 1859 (or possibly 1853), Civil War era child's tie up boots or high top shoes in leather. Classic Civil War era early construction with square nails clearly visible in the leather soles. The toes are fitted with brass shields (toe guards) marked Pat. Nov. 29, 1859 (could be 1853). They measure 5 1/2" toe to heel x 2 1/8" width and they stand approx. 5 1/2" tall. The top perimeter of the boots are scalloped and one tongue is missing from the interior. I have photographed these incredible little boots from every angle possible for your review. Though these boots show age appropriate wear, after all they are over 150+ years old, they are in remarkable condition considering their age, they display beautifully. Usually only remnants (pieces) of these Civil War era children's shoes are found, commonly excavated artifacts from Civil War campsites near battlefields. Very cross-collectible, if you collect rare Civil War artifacts or very cool & rare antique baby shoes, these adorable boots are a must, don't let them pass you by.
