Description
You're bidding on a small sized pitcher - 4 1/4" tall, 4 1/2" diameter and 6" handle-to-spout - Bottom-marked "W.T. Copeland & Sons - Staffordshire". Note that there is an impressed "24" mark, but there's also a stamped ship mark indicating "Copeland Late Spode" that's circa 1894-1910, so I think that's the appropriate date range for this piece.Brown Jasperware style design with an amusing design of 19th century types sitting around drinking and smoking with their pitchers and cups atop kegs and drumheads. It seems a scarce design - I've seen a few other examples of larger pieces with this design and a poem, "Good Old Ale", that probably inspires it.
Overall condition is good for age and type - a bit of brown pitting on the handle and a few spots of brown showing through on the figures, but fairly clean with no chips, cracks or crazing.
Please review photos carefully to make your own determination of condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
