Recent Northern Virginia estate find.
Offering an early Copeland 9 1/2" cabinet plate depicting a
Continental
Views - Music Lessons in the Garden.  This pattern was featured on one of the Spode Blue Room plates, Continental Views.  Original design dates to 1844; however, the Copeland mark on this plate dates between 1851 and 1895.  We are assuming this is more so on the early end of this mark, between 1851 and 1860; however, the plate does not include a date code and this is simply our estimate.  Does show some moderate pink color loss on the raised areas from rub, but overall, outstanding condition for the age.   The pink base color is vibrant, the center image is outstanding, the gold embellishments around the rim are strong with light loss, and the glaze has a high sheen.  No chips, cracks, stains or crazing.  A few light wear marks around the underside rest rim, but extremely insignificant.
Overall, for 150 plus years old, this plate looks stunning and for its size, this plate is very heavy.
