    Description

    Brass “go-to-bed” vesta or match safe.
    Unmarked but similar to Dowler’s or Allen and Moore ca. 1850. Marked around the top of the lid '100 PATENT WAX VESTAS WARRANTED', so it originally held 100 wax vestas. Cylindrical body has floral like designs.
    Socket in the top to accept a match for lighting and the bottom has a striker surface. Lid easily comes off.
    The vesta case stands 2 inches tall and has a diameter of 1¼ inches.
