    Description

    USA SALES ONLY.  SORRY.
This is a very rare item from the
    Civil War
    . A
    pocket compass
    made of
    brass
    and
    very compact
(see photo for size). It has two distinguishable dents in the brass sides
which is most likely from misuse, and there is
    no cover
    .
    The
    needle points North
as it should; the locking spring moves as it should beneath
    the needle but
it does not fixedly secure the needle completely in place.
Clearly this old veteran from the War has seen much usage.
Many like these were made in
    France
and imported before the War. Other imported
    versions were made
    in
    Germany.
