    Description

Rattling Bones or Rhythm Bones are a folk instrument with a varied history dating back to antiquity. The style of bones used in 1800's America came mainly by the way of the Irish and have been incorporated into many different musical styles. The name "Bones" is due to animal rib bones being the most commonly used material early on. During the 1800"s they were made from different materials with hardwoods being the most preferred because of their beautiful tone.   This set is made from ebony, which was prized for its sound and for being dense and durable.  This set is very, very old, in my grandparents, then my Mom's collections.
This set is in very good condition with lots of wear, small scratches and tiny dents from handling and use...but no cracks. They have a beautiful, worn surface. They are  7.25" in length, 1 1/8" wide and 3/8" thick.  They make a beautiful, bright, upbeat, clicking sound.
They will be packed well and shipped USPS Priority.
Here is a video of a talented bones player...
