Description
A carte-de-visite from the studio of Charles D. Fredricks & Co of Broadway, New York. Commodore Andrew H. Foote was one of the most capable "brown water" naval commanders of the Civil War and played an integral part in General U. S. Grant's successful campaigns at Forts Henry and Donelson in February 1862. This image shows him as a rear admiral in 1863 not long before his untimely death.
