A Woolen cloth segment cut from a civil war union uniform
dark blue
Wool swatch
It is approximately 34 “ long
9” wide in the middle ,...tapering down to 3” at the narrow end,
( 4” at the wider end )
It was cut off some style of union military uniform ,.. with evidence that it was stitched / sewn ....
Indicating that it was possibly a section from a union Frock coat ?
There are several minor / light moth nips / damage ,...( see the pictures )
There is enough material here to create a kepi , or patch up an old moth eaten tunic ,
A few pieces of original civil war era cloth were discovered in a long forgotten trunk in an old antebellum farmhouse
the cloth was salvaged from old army uniforms ...
some of the pieces were cut from the shoulder or upper arm area ,.. some from the back / flank or tails ,
many had signs of the original stitch / seem edges
impossible to find on the loose today -
