    Description

Here's a very neat item that almost made it to the junk box, until I got a glimpse of something on the face. Some Virginia "trench artist" copied what looks like a Va. breast plate all across the face of it. You'll probably want to enlarge the photos, but across the top is scratched "Virginia" inside of a ribbon. Below shows the state seal with Virtus standing on Tyranny's chest, and my favorite words "Sic Semper Tyranny (sic). I'm not sure if this was to remain a cavalry rosette, or if he was making his own breast plate. But, it took some artistic skill to do this, especially with a nail. This was dug on private land at the great battlefield of Cedar Creek, in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. It's a great little item that almost never saw the light of day again, and a very nice addition to your cavalry or relic collection. Plmk if I can provide any further info or photos. I am happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases whenever possible, as long as you wait for me to invoice you. Thanks for looking, and stay safe.
