After some digging into Detroit history, I found the "smoking gun" to identify the hotel logo. Last pic  (found online and not a part of this sale) shows a copy of the hotel letterhead on a letter from 1937 confirming this is from the Wolverine.
Hotel Wolverine opened in 1921 and was THE place to stay in Detroit after the Ponchartrain closed. Lots of history and many famous guests stayed there during it's heyday in the 20's and 30's. The hotel fell on hard times in the 60's and was turned into a senior living facility. Eventually sold, the hotel was imploded in 1997 to make way for parking lot for new sports complex.
