Vintage Original M1859 U.S. Cavalry Allegheny Arsenal (Civil War) Curb Horse Bit. It is in very good condition. Note: This bit is NOT a Reproduction, see photos. The M1859 was stamped ALLEGHENY ARSENAL on outside of the left branch below that is the date it was made. This M1859 bit is dated 1865. On the inside of the same branch, you will see a # 3, see photos. The M1859 models had one of the following numbers #2. #3 or #4. The number refers the height of the port. This bit is 100% usable right out of the box. This bit came from the estate of a Penn. War II U.S. Cavalry Officer & Civil War Collector.
