The ceramic teapot has no chips, but shows some discoloration on the bottom where it makes contact with surfaces it sits on. Water heats up and passes through the brewer as it should. This item has been wiped down and cleaned up fairly well, but the buyer will want to wash it more in depth and sanitize it before use, as with any used food or drink items.
I personally suggest filling the reservoir with undiluted vinegar, letting it stand for about a half hour, and then running it through this unit after cleaning it with soap and water. After running the vinegar through this unit, follow with 3 or 4 cycles of water to get rid of the vinegar smell. Not only will this clean this tea maker, it will also help to remove any lime and calcium build up from the tap water, keeping it running well.
