    Original Confederate Officer's Brass Faced Bit.   Pictured on Page 102 of "Confederate Saddles & Horse Equipment" By Ken R. Knopp.
    Variations of this bit have been recovered from sites in both Eastern & Western theaters.  Normal age wear, the larger ring is an old replacement.
