    Description

    This is a unique and hard to find item.  This is a small trunk gray in color.  On one end, in red paint is written Joseph H. Elam. Erie, Colo.  On the inside is a beautiful label that reads " The M
    C. Lilley & Co.  Military & Society Goods, Columbus. Ohio.  RESEARCH.  In researching Joseph H. Elam, we found 2 that served  during Civil War.  One was a Confederate and the other didn't say.  In researching Lilley Co.  Found they were started in 1864 in Columbus Ohio by 4 Civil War veterans.  They manufactured military uniforms as well as uniforms for Masons, Odd Fellows plus Police uniforms.  The trunk is in used shape.  Most of the canvas covering is good with some wear and water spots.  The inside is paper covered minor wear.  The 2 leather straps are both there but loose at one end.  Beautiful Lilley label in top.  The top carrying handle is missing.  Outside wood has minor paint loss.  2 smaller compartments on inside.  Trunk measures 18 inches long x 11 inches tall x 10 inches deep.  Lid latch there but no key.  Metal edging has some surface rust.  Great find for Civil War Era collector
