Description
The name "Ten Eyck" is a well known name for many reasons. This may have been a family inscribed table piece, or part of the Hotel Ten Eyck (1917-1971) New York. The Dutch family settled in Albany, NY. Silversmiths, politicians, and much more! The fork's markings are as follows:
Reed & Barton
Also, a word stamped on a raised area. Something unclear (other Reed & Barton pieces - the word "sterling" is placed there, or a patent number or intention). Please notify me if you know what it is.
Also: "Silver Applied" is stamped
The fork is not hollow - and it is weighty; 2.3 ounces
I'm setting this at auction, as I'm not sure the value.
I found the pattern in a Reed and Barton catologue - dated 1899 -- this piece appears heavier and thicker than the pattern shown, however.
This piece is an interesting piece of history for sure!
