Description

Unusual iron insignia depicting an early droop-wing eagle of the pre-Civil War style.  This was found while metal detecting on private property with permission at Fort Inge, Texas, which was in use by the Dragoons, Mounted Riflemen, Infantry from 1849 through 1861, and the Confederates also used the post during the Civil War.  This item has never been cleaned, it is in original as-dug condition.
