Description
UNION AVENUE SOCIAL CLUBThis Individual Silverplate Coffee Pot is a Great Piece of Portland History. It was used in the old Union Avenue Social Club which was probably originally a speakeasy. It dates back to 1926 when it opened on the corner of Union Ave and SE Russell. After Prohibition it moved to the present site on Grand Avenue. It was revived first by Restaurateur Lee Hamblin and then in 1966 by John Asparro. Finally the famous Chef and Restauranteur Horst Mager operated it in the 1970's. It is still open today as the Grand Cafe.
The coffee pot is in excellent condition as pictured. It was manufactured by Victor S. Co and the base is numbered. There is a little wear on the bottom as pictured. The pot is 7" tall and is 3 1/2" at the base.
